If only we could freeze time and stand in the stillness of the beautiful things.
I have always been fascinated by old photographs.
One day I was looking through old family photos and stumbled upon this photo of my grandfather, Daddypaws, with my two sisters. It instantly reminded me of another photo. One of my father, Daddypaw’s son, with my son. Two photographs taken 20 something years apart. One film. One digital. One taken by my mother. One taken by me. A grandfather with his grandchildren/child, in a pontoon boat somewhere off the Destin, FL coastline. I look at these two images and I feel the love my grandfather had for me. For my siblings. For my cousins. For his family. I feel the love my father has for my son. I see DNA. I see how much my grandfather and father are alike, right down to the manner in which they sit. I hear laughter and giggles between grandfather and grandchildren. I see tradition being passed down. The love for the water, the ocean, boating, family. Passed down from my grandfather to my father to me to my son.
THIS. THIS is why I love photography. These fleeting, special, scared moments in time. The moments we forget to be still in and absorb. They say so much about who we are as individuals. As families. They tell the stories we want to remember. They catch the things we don’t notice in person. They recall feelings as real as the moments itself. They bring to life those who have passed on. They are precious.
These real, raw, beautiful moments of our lives are just what I strive to capture in my photography. The feed my creatively. I am a natural light, lifestyle photographer. This means that my sessions are relaxed, fun, and natural so that I may capture you and your family as they truly are. My sessions are shot outdoors during the golden hours or inside near good window light.
As a mother, I know how important and stressful family photos can be. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help sessions run smoothly. If we need a snack or dance break, we take one. Posing is kept natural so that everyone is free to move, play, laugh, and be silly. Tickle your kids. Let them make funny faces. The smiles that follow are the ones you want to remember and the ones I promise to catch. Take a deep breath. Relax. Enjoy your littles and allow me to freeze these moments in time.
Smiles,
Jenna
Your Photographer
I have been photographing beautiful smiles since 2010. I received a BA in Art Education at Brigham Young University. Before having children, I taught elementary art and was a kindergarten assistant teacher. My husband and I are both North Georgia natives. I love this beautiful state and will never live anywhere else! I am a stay at home mom. I have two little boys and a pup named Maeby. I play with kids by day and edit by nap time and night. I love painting, dogs, the water, sunflowers, the Florida Gators, food, Disney, running, yoga, and hiking. I am adventurous, happy, silly, and friendly. I’ve never met a stranger. And I am definitely not afraid to look like a fool for smiles or throw on my waders and go chest deep in a creek to get that perfect shot. True story! Ask me about it sometime.
